Decal Transfer Paper
vast applications amazing effects
Digital Decal Transfer Papers
What are they? They are essentially decorating papers designed to transform the look and feel of a substrate. Simply put, these papers make decor work a breeze!
Applications & Benefits. * Ideal for arts & crafts * Great for property identification & protection. * It's the ultimate in decoration flexibility. Can be applied to virtually any shape. For example, you can create an unlimited variety of decals in various sizes and die-cut shapes: - to identify your company vehicles, promote your products 24/7 on the body of your car, or express your emotions and all of your other communication needs. - to beautify an object (e.g., candle) for gift giving, wedding, birthdays, diner. - for labels on domestic and industrial appliances; for company name, logo or message on almost any hard or soft smooth surface at exhibitions & POS, etc. * Using decals eliminates the lengthy setup times, blurred details, and easy rub-off that sometimes characterize other types of decorations/markings. You can even produce an etch resistant decoration. All you need is a PC, a suitable printer/ copier, and a guide. [see below] * Usually, decals have a 'painted on' appearance - some kind of colour/visual effect, arising from the coating applied to it - that leaves the substrate looking as if the paper/film isn't there.
Our Focus The industries that we serve include: * Tile, Mug & Tableware * Sanitary ware * Wood/Furniture * Antique Novelty items * Toys * Glass - flat glass & Glass packing * Wax & Candle * Plastics
Technologies & Supplies Several printing technologies and media are available for the production of decals. We focus on:
Printing: Inkjet & Laser
Media: Non-Heat Releasing Decal Papers/Films
Colours * Unlimited pigment colours. * Compatible precious metal colours [where printing technology - e.g., via thermal printers by Oki or ALPs - is available].
Artworks, printed on decal papers, using one or a combination of: * dream spot colours, metallic gold, metallic silver, translucent/white, and or fluorescent and office inks/toners add considerable value to the final items to which the decals are applied.
Non-Heat-Release Decal Paper/Media
In general, a non-heat releasing media comprises a top film and a backing coated with a water-soluble dextrin gum or non-soluble adhesive suitable for its release during transfer. Our portfolio includes:
1. Waterslide decal papers 2. Rub On decal papers 3. Self-adhesive, water & fade resistant, decal films
One major advantage of these non-heat releasing (or traditionally, non-firing) decal papers is that you do not have to be committed to one design. You can remove the design or decal from the substrate surface whenever you wish, and then replace it with a fresh design [if you did not opt for further finishing treatments][see below].
YOURPLATFORM ARTS
1. Waterslide Decal Transfer Paper
A waterslide paper is usually porous, comprising a clear transparent thin film and a thicker backing base coated with a water-soluble dextrin gum (or starch) to enable its release during water slide transfer. Key Features
* Requires water for separation * Provides superb decoration results and a durable professional finish. * Decals have excellent adhesion quality and peel resistance, unless exposed to water or excessive heat. * Easy to apply. Just stick the decals onto the substrate and they wont come off unless you want. Our Procal decal paper: is a hi-tech special purpose digital media, designed with the user in mind. It is manufactured to ISO9001 standard. When used, for example, for decorating glass or ceramics, and has to be mildly-fired, its finely ground powdry glass content melts and encapsulates the metallic oxide of its coating, giving rise to an extra-ordinary fusion of the substrate and its pigment colours during the transfer process. Substrates.

 |
Decals like this can be applied permanently for decorative purposes on collector plates, hanging ceramic tiles, glassware, plastic water bottles, stainless steel, wood and other regular or irregular objects or finished products that you would not wash or heat but would want to add your photo or creation. |
Other typical examples of substrates include motocycle helmets, soap, candles, promotional gifts, photo frames, book & album covers, envelopes, chairs, tables, computers, lamp shades, pencil pouches, phone housing or receiver, model airplanes, trains & automobiles, wooden paques, toys, bicycles, sports & entertainment equipment, advertising & special events, etc
Free Instructions. Every sale comes with a user guide, so you wont be on your own.
Paper Types. * Procal decal transfer paper comes in white or clear for use with inkjet and laser
printers. * White inkjet & laser papers are used when applying transfers onto dark surfaces * Clear inkjet or laser papers are used when applying transfers onto light coloured
surfaces. * Waterslide Laser Papers. The two broad types on offer, are: - For low temperature, silicone-based fusion printers & copiers [i.e., earlier models] - For low & high temperature printers and copiers (silicone-free & silicone-based) [newer models][see TIPS, bottom of page below] * Free Instructions, supplied with our laser waterslide decal papers, offer specific tips on how to (a) bake the decals onto ceramic mugs, glass and metal (b) fix the decals to non-absorbant shiny surfaces (perspex, mirror, ceramic tiles, etc) (c) fix the decals to other surfaces (paper, wood, canvas, furniture, vinyl, etc) (d) produce etch resistant decors (glass, ceramics, etc). * The inkjet transfer paper is designed to accept 'wet' ink only, and the laser transfer paper accepts 'dry' ink only. In other words, whereas an inkjet printer prints directly on to the inkjet paper, a laser printer writes with the laser heat on the laser paper.
Paper Sizes, Grammage & Availability * Both our inkjet & laser papers are supplied in A4 & A3 sizes * 124gsm, 160gsm, 176gsm or 180gsm * Delivery within the UK from next day to 5 working days from order confirmation.

2. Rub On Decal Transfer Paper
This paper (film) allows the printed image to be rubbed off onto the surface of the substrate during a dry process of rubbing it against the substrate.
Key Features * Comes in two parts: a thin transparent transfer film plus a transfer adhesive sheet * Far more water resistance than waterslide decal media * Generally ideal media for transferring images onto more porous substrates that may not (fail to) accept waterslide decal papers. * It is not for use on items that wrinkle or crease in use, eg., textiles. * Typically used in craftwork, interior designing and artwork for making stickers & styles and a variety of other decals of photos & logos for application on glass, most types of wax, slate, marble, graphics to decorate plastic products, seasonal cards, ceramics, earthware, marble, metallic equipment, unpainted wood items, books, windscreen, leather, interior walls, glass, promotional gifts (toys-models, pencil box) and virually any household or office item that you would like to customize as a mark of your own expression or a child's education. * The transfer process is fast * The end result usually looks like an etching of its original artwork
How it works. * Using an inkjet/laser printer, print your image on the glossy side of the film * With the adhesive sheet cut slightly larger than the image, remove its backing, and then stick its skicky side to the unprinted side of the transparent film. Allow it to dry for a few hours or overnight. * Next, cut out the printed image or decal, remove the remaining adhesive liner, and then apply the decal, face down, to the surface of the substrate. * Finally, using a thumb or coin, rub the decal onto the surface, and then peel off the paper (film).
Note: 1. Whereas waterslide decal papers are best suited for decorative items and craft & hobby art creations, most professionals tend to prefer rub-on transfers for production items. Rub-on decals will stick to almost any substrate, and are less likely to suffer from mechanical damage because of their very thin texture.
Paper Sizes, Colours & Availability * Both the film & adhesive sheets are supplied in A4 size * White and Clear options available * available for inkjet and laser desktop printers * Delivery within the UK from next day to 3 working days from order confirmation

Handling & Storage Of Any Of Our Self Adhesive Decal Films All shipments contain printing & copying as well as storage information. In general, storage in a cool and dry place is recommended.
Some Practical Tips.
* Decals will usually remain affixed to the surface where you place them because they have excellent adhesion & peel resistance, and are less susceptible to the ingress of dirt. However, if you wish, in the case of laser decals, you may apply further treatments to ensure the toners are completely fused into the paper or your images become inseparable from the substrate decorated. * Free Instructions, supplied with our laser waterslide decal papers, offer specific tips on how to (a) bake the decals onto ceramic mugs, glass and metal (b) fix the decals to non-absorbant shiny surfaces (perspex, ceramic tiles, etc) (c) fix the decals to other surfaces (paper, wood, canvas, vinyl, etc) (d) produce etch resistant decors (glass, ceramics, etc). * Cleanliness or suface preparation is very important for effective decal transfer and application. So too are other possible problems, notably; splitting, pitting, hazing or ghosting, crawling, stiffening and formation of pin holes, blisters, dull colour, wrinkles and grainy matt finish when you don't want them! We look at these a bit more in our Free Instructions to guide you. WE DON'T LEAVE YOU IN THE DARK like the competion does, just to sell papers! * Use a paper towel or clean damp cloth to wipe off excess water when applying decal to your substrate * You can remove most rub-on art decals from surfaces - other than paper, acrylic, plastics or vinyl - by simply using a nail polish remover. However, we advise the use of a sharp object when removing decals from hard surfaces such as ceramic or glass [if a post baking treatment has not been applied] * With waterslide decal papers, always slide - don't pick - the decal from the paper * We suggest that you spray the dried surface of your decorated substrate with a clear solvent-based acrylic spray coating or oil-based vanish, if you wish to protect it from moisture, fading or surface scratches. * In some circumstances, as with all inkjet printing, you may apply a light coating of the above acrylic to the inkjet decal paper before printing. This decal fixative leaves a thin layer that helps the 'wet' ink from the inkjet to adhere to the paper without forming beads. * Another finishing product that you may use with a waterslide decal paper is a UV aerosol spray. This improves the uv-resistance of your decal * Unlike inkjet inks, toners are granular powder particles. These particles require heat from the fuser unit of any laser printer or photocopier to melt and be bound to the paper. However, unlike recent laser printers/copiers that use improved- quality polymerized carbon powders, earlier models simply used carbon powders at lower temperatures to form the printed text & images on the paper. So, the prints from earlier machines may be susceptible to flaking or breakage when the papers, on which they are applied, are bent. Also, papers designed for earlier machines are more likely to stick to rolls in recent machines. We offer two types of laser decal papers: one, for earlier, low-temp machines; and, the other, for both recent & earlier machines. Besides, the Free Instructions, supplied with our laser waterslide decal papers offer tips for very good adhesion when using either type of paper. * Make sure you use quality toners for your transfers * Note that most printers or copiers do not print in white ink/toner. However, You may be able to achieve a white decal (e.g., white lettering or artwork with a white background), if you apply transfers from a clear laser paper onto an opaque white surface. [Usually, you apply white decal paper on dark surfaces] * It is recommended that your Procal media is stored in a controlled temperature environment with humidity around 49%. In tropical Countries or in hot summer air conditioned storage is encouraged because heat may soften the paper's cover coating and cause the papers to stick together. Usually, though, this effect is efffect can be avoided by stacking the papers on edge from the onset. * Depending on user requirements, transfers from non-heat-releasing papers may or may not be kiln/oven-fired when applied on ceramic and glass substrates. * Finally, think outside the box! Be creative. Remember, an excellent artwork only becomes outstanding when you use the right colour combination of inks/toners. Your transferred images (decals) are usually transparent. So, depending on your substrate [wood, glass, plastics, etc], further finishing to enhance their effects may be useful. For example, laying your decals on weathered wood or over gilded surfaces to create a fascinating collage is something you can do.
