Bright Business Thermal Transfer Ribbons We supply four groups, namely: 1 Wax,Wax-Resin,Resin Ribbons - sometimes called Wax or Wax-Resin or Resin Thermal Transfer Barcode Ribbons or Label & Bar Code Thermal Transfer Ribbons.
2 Thermal Transfer fax Ribbon/Film Rolls For general information about ribbons, please click here >> Thermal Transfer (wax/wax-resin/resin) Ribbons * This group of ribbons comes in varying grades that are formulated to meet the demanding requirements of the printing and automatic identification market within
(a) manufacturing
(b) chemical (c) electronics
(d) consumer goods (e) distribution (f)automotive (g) textile and (h) the flexible packaging industry * They serve as media for impact and indirect thermal transfer printing onto substrate. including where new generation of thermal transfer printers equipped with near edge or corner edge are used. * They generally have good to excellent backcoats to extend printhead life.
* They are used mainly for thermal printing of high quality labels, tags,
tickets, and bar codes that are required in the above industries.
* They offer a good balance between durability and excellent imaging quality at
all speeds on most substrates - including vinyl, polyester, polypropylene,
polyimide, PVC shrink wrap, polystyrene, uncoated tag, polyethylene, textiles matt/gloss/coated/uncoated/synthetic/metallized thermal transfer paper.
* Resin thermal transfer uses a single colour ribbon (as in Oki resin printers) to print sharp, crisp black text & images on paper label or plastic ID cards. However, only solid dots of colour are supplied during the process, unlike in dye sublimation thermal transfer where a combination of colour dots results in clearer facial images on an ID Card. Wax Ribbon * This is the economic range used for general purpose labelling/tag application. Prints well at high speeds, offering good quality for text, graphics and logos.
It is best used where abrasion and chemical resistance are of little significance. However, it is an excellent choice when colour is needed for general purpose
application. Our ribbons print dark images, even at high speeds * Applications include warehousing/storage, bin, shelf, garment, shipping, retail tag , tote, general ticketing, apparel, indirect food contact (ingredient), pharmeceutical, address, mailing & price labels & tags, and compliance labelling plus the printing of modelling decals. * Substrates. They are suitable for printing on (a) Coated paper tag and label stock (b) Uncoated paper tag and label stock (c) low end synthetic or
packaging film labels -e.g, polyethylene & polypropylene films and polyethylene shopping bags
* Colours. Available in (a) Process Colours [black, cyanine, magenta yellow] and (b) Spot colours [green, gold, dark blue, red, brown, maroon, grey, light blue] * Thickness(wax + base film). Varies, but typically 6-9 microns * Storage. Up to one year duration at -5 to 40 celcius at 20% to 85% relative humidity. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight
Wax/Resin (Smearless) Ribbon
* Compared with wax ribbon, this is the right choice where a higher level of scratch and smear and/or chemical resistance is needed in labelling. It makes use of the combined properties of wax and resin to produce good rub resistance. Prints dark durable images on paper and low-end synthetic tags & labels And the durability of a print usually increases with increasing resin content in the wax/resin mix. * Applications include textile, wood, apparel, warehouse shelf/bin, nusery items, retail tag, mailing, shipping, flexible packaging, health care products, poly bags,
blood bags, and security labels (e.g., tamper evident stickers, warranty void and tamper proof), price tags/tickets, jewelry tags, cardboard tags, horticulture tags, self adhesive paper stickers, etc. * Substrates. Prints well on (a) coated paper tag & label stocks, including grid lacquer paper (b) rough uncoated paper (c) low end to smooth synthetic films (polypropylene, polyethylene) and some polyester film labels. * Colours. Available in (a) Process colours [black, cyanine magenta, yellow] and (b) Spot colours [red, lemon yellow, voilet, gold, forest green, royal blue, brown, white, wine, orange, silver, shamrock green, midnight blue]
* Thickness. Varies between 4.5-8 microns * Storage. Up to one year duration at -5 to 40 celcius at 20% to 85% relative humidity. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight
Resin (scratch/solvent/chemical resistance) Ribbon
* This is the choice for harsh environment labelling applications (that require colour) - where resistance to extreme heat, smudge, abrasion and/or chemical solvents is particularly inevitable. Typical solvents include brake fluids, petrol,
kerosine, alcohol, bleach, mineral spirits, anti-freeze, sulphuric acid, and engine oils. * The 100% resin content makes prints from them far more durable (rub and chemical resistant) than those from the other two ribbons * Applications include out-door labeling, industrial work-in-process labeling & tagging, water heater labeling, heat tunnel passage labeling, chemical drums
labeling, timber/wood labeling, phamaceutical, healthcare, textile & work apparel labeling, automotive labeling, steel labeling, electronic & electrical appliance labeling, flexible packaging labels, shipping labels, self adhesive paper stickers, security labels (e.g., tamper evident stickers, warranty void and tamper proof), ID PVC Card, CD & diskette labeling,
etc. * Substrates. Coated high end synthetic durable labels or films. For example, vinyl, high gloss coated polyester (satin & taffeta) labels, polyamide (nylon taffeta), low- & high-density polypropylene and polyethylene, synthetic paper, coated paper, cellophine, polyolefin, polyester and foil for flexible packaging, electronic components,. * Colours. Black, white, dark blue, red, grey, shamrock green, light blue, others
* Thickness. Apprimately 4.5-8 microns * Storage. Up to one year duration at -5 to 45 celcius at 20% to 85% relitive humidity. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight
Note: * The maximum width of ribbon that you can use with a printer model is determined by printer throat. However, you may specify or choose the width of your ribbon by simply giving
a reasonable tolerance (usually 2mm) more than the width of your substrate * Specialty Resin Ribbon for Thermal Transfer Dye Sublimation MultiPass Printing - 4 PASS CMYK or 3 PASS CMY refill ribbons - are available only upon request. They have all the features of the above resin ribbon. Besides, they come in extra-ordinary Spot Colours [Blue sapphire blue, bright blue, occean blue, green, forest green, pine green, leaf green, orange, sunflower yellow, golden yellow, burgundy, rubby red, tomato red + Process Colours [CMYK] Thinking of selecting a (Wax or Wax/Resin or Resin) Ribbon? Then, in addition to the substrate material, consider the following: * width of ribbon * grade of ribbon * label size
* label print orientation (wide edge or narrow edge leading?)
* printer throat * application (label, tag, etc)
